My wife drove our 2008 (25Km on it) to Costco fine. When she came out it wouldn't start. Had it towed to MB Dealer who has diagnosed "seized throttle body". Claims there is no servicable parts inside, or any repair procedures for same. Replacement parts "will have to come from Germany". Cost is $2,100 (Cdn) with about $250 installation. Does this seem reasonable? Thanks, NSG

Totally out of line for cost! The dealer is correct that it is not serviceable. I believe it is a BOSCH unit that comes from That part can be found used on eBay for $125.00 new for $350.00 and installation should be about an hours labor.! Update. The shop foreman did an in depth. There is something wrong in the black box. The throttle plate is jammed and won't move. Gunk is not the problem. Cross checked with another Smart where you can move the throttle plate with your fingers (car on (not running) or off). They cut me a break on the part because the car is only 2 days out of warranty. So good for them.
