I spoke a while back of an smart car add-on that got me another 1-2MPG in the city. I was hesitant to speak about it until my warranty had run out. I told everyone a few weeks ago that add-on was a BPP air filter. Some testing: With 25,000 miles on the odometer. All city driving. With the BPP air filter driving VERY conservatory I got 34.1 MPG. Driving what I would consider regularly I got 32.7MPG Curious I went and bought a new smart air filter and installed it. Driving regularly I got 32.8MPG on the first two tanks and it has slowly been dropping since then. My theory is that although the aftermarket air filter may flow more air it is the leaning out of the cars computer fuel trim tables that is providing the MPG improvement. All the best, Aaron Lephart

How about the intake air scoop? Did you ever get it installed? If not, you may want to look for some of the 3M double sided adhesive mounts. When the XM radio first came out, it had some super strong adhesive for mounting the antenna. I was fortunate to get an extra piece and used it on a radio project. The display is still holding on strong after 5 years.

Never installed the scoop! It's a paint to match and there are better ones on the market now. This was a genuine EvilTwin part. Good idea on the tape. All the best, Aaron Lephart

I decided to test out a new OEM smart car air filter versus my BPP filter element. In casual all city driving I got 35.7MPG. This tells me the engine is getting more broken in and loose or the effects of leaning out the fuel mixture with the BPP element have not been adjusted by the cars ECU. The next tank will truly tell. All the best, Aaron Lephart
