You guys probably know this already but I thought to share my experience on a 500 miles road trip today from McKinney to the Talimena Scenic Drive in OK and back. As with all the cars I've had I always will do at least one long road trip to see how comfortable the car is while driving long distance. The smart handles well but the comfort factor is not. After driving for about 2 hours my butt started to hurt. I contribute this to not having a cruise control because I had to constantly press my right foot on the gas paddle for the entire time. If the smart have cruise control I don't think I would've have this problem because I will be able to set on cruise and wiggle my butt from time to time to get comfortable. The second thing I noticed was that the a/c REALLY drain whatever power you have in the smart. With the a/c on it was a lot harder to keep it at 65-70 mph. I think it also reduce your mpg (although I won't know until I go fill her up in the next couple days) I suspect my next fillup will average only 34-36 mpg, which will be the lowest since I got the smart. There was another factor that played into this as I was driving home driving into the wind that was probably 10-15 mph. That and with the lack of power will probably contribute to the lower mpg

Here's the solution to all your problems Perry. With the A/C o, the car will only run about 65-70, and you need cruise control...so, just drop a brick on the accelerator pedal and everything will be good.

Talimena Scenic Drive is one of my favorite drives. I need to go do that again soon. For any of those in the North Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas area, it's hard to beat for a nice drive. Linkie:

Bumblebee, thanks for sharing to us your 500 mile experience. Anyway is it okay if you tell us how tall you are. Also how much do you weigh. I know it is somewhat a personal question but pyhsique and weight could also play a factor with regards to comfort.

I know it is somewhat a personal question but pyhsique and weight could also play a factor with regards to comfort. I'm 5'7 and about 135-140 lbs. So I'm not too tall or big. Maybe my seating position has something to do with it too.

For what its worth, for the short time I had my Smart, it was very comfortable. I'm 6'3" and 230lbs, and I fit fine. However, the longest freeway drive I had was on the way home from the dealer, about 15 miles, so I can't opine on long trips. Around town it was just fine.
