It offers a high level of comfort, agility, safety and ecology, and the vehicle concept is extremely practical. American enthusiasm and demand for the smart fortwo is already strong, as more than 30,000 people from all 50 states have placed a $99 deposit to secure a vehicle. Interest has come from a wide variety of consumers, including: first-time buyers looking for something affordable; urban dwellers looking for something functional and easy to park; baby boomers in need of a second or third car for commuting or for family members; and empty nesters who no longer require a large car/back seat.
