In talking with Brammo and sending them logfiles from the onboard memory key they have determined the charger to be the problem. The other issue is I am no longer under warranty. As you can imagine this part is not cheap. However Brammo is cutting me a pricebreak on the unit. The only thing up in the air is what model charger I am recieving. What model you ask? As it turns out Brammo used 2 output levels of chargers on the Enertia, 720watt and 850watt. I previously had the 720watt version. I figured since it has to be replaced anyhow, why not go for the higher output one? I hope to have the charger installed and the bike working in the next week. All the best, Aaron Lephart

As it turns out the "upgraded" charger requires more to be changed then just the charger. I just got invoiced for a 720watt charger so that is what I am getting. Humph! All the best, Aaron Lephart

Great news! David Harvey showed up and began the repair with the kickstand sensor. He repositioned the magnet on the kickstand and appears to be working. I asked and this magnetic switch is normally open and requires the magnet to close the circuit. If this continues to be an issue a work-around would be to loop the wires closed. He then began to diagnose the charger issue. He checked all the fuses I checked already however this time he removed the main plastic fairing and found a blown 80v 15amp fuse. Once that was replaced it appears to be charging. A refund I paid for the charger is coming and I thank Brammo for getting me back on the road! This is the perfect time to have an electric vehicle with gas prices so high. All the best, Aaron Lephart

I spoke to soon! I am still having problems with the bike falling out of recharging. I notice this happens when the state of charge is between 50-60%. I am unaware if the charger goes into a "deeper" mode that draws more current or what. I am at a loss and the brains @ Brammo will crunch of this during the week. I checked the 80v 15amp fuse under the main plastic panel and it was OK. Then after re-inserting the fuse, the bike started charging. Something is amiss! All the best, Aaron Lephart

David Harvey came by again today. His immediate decision was to replace the charger with the one I had previously purchased from Brammo as to being the problem. I grew unsure in my mind that this was the only problem and refused further service at that point. Brammo has been great to deal with, however I think it is time I look for another solution. All the best, Aaron Lephart

The bike appears to be intermittent with recharging. That being said, I did take the bike for an early morning ride and upon leaving the driveway I hit a normal sized bump that transitions from the concrete sidewalk to the asphalt. As soon as it hit the road the bike died, like totally dead. So I pushed it back into the garage went to breakfast. Upon my return I began removing the plastic panels and just verifying different stuff was still connected and fuses where not blown. I finally got down to a BIG fuse located under the bike beneath the lower plastic fairing. The fuse has a sight window and I could see plain as day that it was in fact, blown. I have a call into David Harvey to see about buying a replacement fuse. All the best, Aaron Lephart

An interesting thing I found out when researching a replacement FUSE. This part is only rated for 130AC/80DC for voltage. Might that explain why it blew in the first view moments after a full recharge? The battery pack is rate for 72v but I know I have seen at least 80v on the dash during a full overnight recharge. Also interesting to note that although Brammo is an American company, besides all the parts on the Enertia that where sourced from Europe the past 2 parts I have had fail/problems with have been from Mexico. Both the sidestand sensor from cherry and now the BUSS fuse where both made in Mexico. All the best, Aaron Lephart

Good news, again David Harvey saved the day with a replacement fuse. Although, a 125amp model not the 150amp version that I had. He says the difference should not be noticeable, besides the increased 20 mile range! OK Just kidding on that part. I will put the fuse in later today. All the best, Aaron Lephart

I put all the fairings back on the bike and even a fully charged the bike "feels" a LITTLE slower. On most roads I nornally commute on it maintains 55MPH as its to speed. Where as before I could maintain 60MPH and often times 62-63. I will keep this 125amp fuse as a spare and I ordered a 150amp fuse online. Battery usage was the same on my route however the motor fan did'nt come on at its normal "spot" on my trip. Actually, it did'nt come on at all. All the best, Aaron Lephart

I think I have found why the charger is getting "stuck" and does'nt register any amps or begin the recharge procedure! I will confirm tomorrow, but after playing with the bike trying to replicate the problem I think I found the reason! All the best, Aaron Lephart

OK by backtracking exactly what I was doing I think I have narrowed the problem down! It comes from terminating power to the bike during the recharge cycle by removing power from the plug. A better way of doing this would be to simply turn the ignition key. However there are a couple reasons why this happens. One could be simply removing the power cord first before turning the ignition key. However more often then not it's because right now I do not have a electrical meter that goes backwards from my solar. Because of this I use the power hungry items during the day. I have a timer setup on the Brammo that will kill power to the bike upon the solar shutting down for the day. When the bike stops seeing power, it thinks the cord is disconnected and will fall out of recharge mode after a couple minutes. In the morning when I am creating power I turn the bike back into recharge mode, or just leave with the charge I already have. This bike charger get's "stuck" when I remove power from the bike while in recharge mode when it is in full recharge mode with the cooling fans on. Not when the bike is in "balancing mode" at the end of the recharge cycle. Removing power at that time is fine. And FWIW I don't think the 125amp fuse is as limiting as originally thought. I oiled the chain and was back up to normal speeds. However I am still going to replace the fuse with the original 150amp model. All the best, Aaron Lephart

Last Tuesday I was involved in an accident with the Brammo. Upon entering a lane that merges with another street I was in a line of about 4 cars all making the same turn. I was the 3rd vehicle back when I looked to the left for oncoming traffic and then back to my right suddenly during the turn the car on front of me slammed on the brakes. I could not stop in time and had nowhere to swing wide and avoid it. There was no oncoming traffic so I have no idea why the driver decided to STOP rather then yield. I have yet to get the accident report from the police or even know if there was a witness or the other driver stayed at the scene. Anyhow I ended up colliding with the rear trunk/bumper of a white 4dr car. Injuries include broken collarbone, broken pelvis, broken pubic bone, 6 fractured ribs and fractured neck vertebrae. I was in the Hospital ER for 2 days before returning home. And the onset of bruises are still emerging daily! The bike itself faired VERY well and appears to only have a broken footpeg, scratched brake master cylinder, bar end, and a scratched headlight surround bezel. Maybe the headlight brackets to. This is not my first accident nor will it be my last. So I am not looking for sympathy here just wanted to update everyone if I don't seem to be active on the forum. All the best, Aaron Lephart
