What does everyone think of this bike? Finally a redesign! I have one reserved. Good starter bike or someone concerned about MPG. This is expected to get 60-70 MPG!

Well; I got a little worried when I heard of consumers receiving their bikes. I hadn’t been notified about my Ninja 250. So I called the dealer and got "oh you wanted that?". So long story short they have bikes arriving Tuesday! This as the reviews are coming in and look positive!

Decided on Blue and got 4yr Kawasaki warranty. I already started removing the reflectors and fender, ugg, and so it begins! Thanks to Kevin Jump at Advanced Kawasaki in Buena Park for his hospitality.

2008 Ninja 250 report. 132 miles and 3.2 gallons to fill up on first partial tank. 45.9MPG and still breaking in! I'm happy and the possibility of higher MPG once done breaking it in. I also switched to regular 87 octane as the bike does'nt require high octane. I was unsure so the first tank was 91 octane.

Congrats on the new bike.
I really liked Kawasaki when I was younger. When I was 16 years old, I wanted to get the 454 LTD. Never did as I had a bad skiing accident that nearly took my life and consequently, I quit riding motorbikes at the same time...

Thank You!
Taken from my post on a Ninja 250 forum:
What this bike means to me. Sooo much.
I started on a 1989 EX250. Then Honda 600's from there. F2, F4, F4i, 600RR.
I was involved in a serious accident in April of 2006. It was doubtful if I would live, let alone ride again. About a week after I woke up from a coma I knew I had to ride again. Against the better wishes of my family and maybe even my friends.
I had my accident bike prepped to become a racebike but decided to sell it. Even the 89 EX250 I sold to a friend at work who still owns it. I worked in the motorcycle industry for 7 years all to have the bike I first started on come back into my garage. I could write so much more but decided a recap was enough!
The only thing I have yet to do that I would love to have happen is revisit the scene of my accident on Hwy 22 in San Diego county, Ca. Maybe this will put some things to rest on what I remember and what actually happened. Even if it does'nt, closure is in order.
If your REALLY bored there is a good read at: http://www.roadracingworld.com/news/article/?article=27124

3rd tank of 87 octane, 205 miles on tripmeter and 4.1 gallons to fill up. 50MPG which is good because this trip was higher RPM cruising and a few redline sprints. I am still looking for 60MPG!

4th tank report. All city driving pretty high RPM's. 215 miles, 4.4gal to fill up, 48.8MPG
I changed the engine oil during the last 50 miles, don't know what effect it will have on the next full tank.

5th tank 205 miles and 4.143 gallons of 87 octane to fill up, 49.4MPG
This will be my last MPG report. 60 MPG is possible but I can't bring myself to ride as conservative as it would take to obtain!
All the best,

OK I know I said I was going to stop reporting but, I may have found out a way to get increased mileage.
I changed the oil for the first time and went for a VERY spirited canyon run. I forget the tripmeter reading but a calculated it to be 48MPG on the 6th tank.
Excited I filled up and drove around and got 52MPG! 193 miles, 3.61 gal of 87 to fill up.
Why am I able to drive like this and actually get BETTER MPG then before? It's my opinion that I may have had the crankcase overfilled with oil. Thereby causeing a windage power loss/increased load with the crankshaft in all that oil

OK I can't see it getting any better then this. 2100 miles on the odometer. 148.4 miles, 2.79 gallons of 87 to fill up. 53.18 MPG. I did'nt drive over 60MPH. Engine RPM's where kept to 6500RPM max. And choke was not used to warm the bike up.

Hmm, don't know what the think here. 190 miles on tank, 3.42 gallons to fill up. 55.5MPG. Drove it normally with a few spirited runs. Not warming up as long as I used to. 1-2 minutes vs 3-5 minutes. 2600miles on the odometer.
