| Me and my wife took her 2009 Cabriolet up Pikes Peak on the morning of July 13, 2009. The ranger at the bottom had never saw one before. This leads me to believe we may be the first. Attachment: email pic.jpg (Downloaded 24 times)

Congrats! And welcome to the forum. Did you get your car from the Denver smart car dealer? I went there on my roadtrip and found them very pleasant to talk to.
All the best,
Aaron Lephart

Were you there for the Pikes Peak international hill climb. I know they had that the following week, including the tech inspection which started on the 14th. How did the car handle it?
Our family made a trip in the mid 80's up the mountain. My father had a fairly new Chevy S10 truck at the time. By the time we were near the top, he had trouble getting 20 mph out of the truck. Of course, the carburator was not set up for the mountains, so the fuel mixture was off. ...good times, good times...

| We got our car from Bedford, OH. Smart on 6/24/09 and got Married and went on our Honeymoon leaving Cleveland, OH. and going to Colorado, with many stops along the way to see the sights. It didn't have problems in mountains that I wouldn't expect out of a stock economy compact car. Time going up Pikes Peak was 44 minuites and that was because 3/4 way up we had a line of cars in front of us. Coming down, the brakes are usually the biggest worry. I didn't have a problem as I am an over the road truck driver and always do it with gears going down hill but I saw a Toyota pick up at the middle check point that overheated theirs. The ranger there stops every car and checks your brakes with a infra red heat reading optical thermometer like they use on molten metal. The race was supposed to take place the following monday. Does anyone know of anyone else taking a Smart Car up there ?
