Our smart center had an open house by invitation last Friday and Saturday. We, (SO and I) attended Saturday along with Bumblebee (Perry) and many, many, more. I don't know if this is the case at all the smart centers, but ours is really getting into personalizing the cars right at the start. Every car on dispaly had modded wheels - and I saw a great, probably inexpensive way to do my wheels - at least until something really cool becomes available.

They had stripped the aluminum silver paint off the stock rims, and powdercoated the spokes to match the car. In my case, (triple black) I'd like to strip the paint and polish the entire wheel...although the silver rim/black center looked pretty nice also.

I have a couple of pictures that I have to upload tonight.

They also had lots of accesories on display. Stubby antennas, chrome parking brake handles - little stuff, but fun.

Each visitor that had RSVP'd got a shirt, and other stuff. There was plenty of food  and drink on hand, all good and all healthy - I had to go elsewhere to clog my arteries that night.

I was catching a ride in Bumlebee Jr. with Perry and as we were leaving, we were stopped by a local news guy, interviewed and videotaped, but I don't think it made it onto the news. I tried to get him to grab one of the three very attractive saleswomen, but he wanted to just do an informal segment - and we seemed to know enough about the car to get what he wanted.

Randy,

I just bought a short antenna.  You can check out this website http://www.stubbyantenna.com/index.asp they have several styles to choose from.  I got the A series in black.

Here's a shot of the wheel Randy was talking about.

Definitely going to have to paint the drums and calipers...the gray just doesn't do it.

I would tend to agree with that. Worried about warranty at all? I already got a warning from my local smart center about that! This was regarding wheels though.

They, (the manufacturer/dealer) has the burden of proof to prove that the mod has caused a problem. Very tough to prove that a coating of paint did damage - especially since there is already one on there.

The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act is a good thing!
